Welcome Mr. President
I just watched the humble acceptance speech, of Mr. Donald Trump;
He was elected to be our new President, when I thought he would get thumped!
He was very gracious to Ms. Hillary, and praised her brave campaign;
I watched him speak very elegantly, as he promised a great reign!
For two months I’ve been very vocal, and criticized his ways;
I said that if many people voted for him, I would be totally amazed!
But I have to change my tune now, for my country’s majority has spoke;
And this is now a reality, no longer one big joke!
So I’m taking off my boxing gloves, I’m waving a white flag;
I will accept you as our new leader, and you no longer nag!
I do this for my United States, because divided we will fall;
For we all need to come together now, join hands, stand proud and tall!
So I welcome you Mr. President, I’ll forgive you and you forgive me;
We both said lots of nasty things, but it’s time to let things be!
I’m counting on you to bring the change, that you promised you would do;
Then in four more years on election day, I just might vote for you!

Thanks Greg, I'm going to read your poem right now.
Hello Larry...
I watched it as soon as I knew he won...
I asked myself...
Who's that?
I mean for months reading your things about him and listening to him bullying the world...
Who are you people?

Hi Sweet Sparrowsong,
After listening to his compassionate speech, I felt a certain calm come over me. I am trying to believe that these campaigns are a major mudslinging contest between the candidates. I have decided to back off my criticism and give him a chance to prove that which he has promised. Then I listened to Hillary and Barack, and they both said the same thing, "we are all Americans and love our country". "Therefore we need to come together and give Trump a chance to do what he said he would".
Hugs, Peace and Love,

Hello Larry...
I can't believe someone who has done such a 360 degree turn that quick...
His threats cannot be covered by charm and sweet talk...
I wish America the best and there's 364 days to see what the people do once again...
Cheers!
Hugs...

Hi Sweet Sparrowsong,
I wrote this poem at four in the morning, after hearing his humble acceptance speech. I made up my mind that he is the next President of our country, and it would be self defeating not to give him a chance. So I put my rancor in abeyance and my mind in a positive state. Then yesterday, after hearing Hillary's and President Obama's speeches, where they both also plead with America to give Trump a chance, it made me feel very good that I was honoring both of their wishes.
Hugs, Peace and Love,

X3.
Radical pen Larry. (not a fan of trump.)
Hi Dear Lisa,
Not a fan either, nor a radical. I choose to honor Hillary's and Barack's plea to give him a chance.

Larry, my friend, you wrote a terrific poem here, and it must've taken a lot of strength to take this route, I admire you greatly...honestly, though I have nothing good to say about the president elect, and I feel bad for the blue collar folks in rural America and all the groups who feel that they have been short changed by the government, that to me is sad, I get that, I've been blue collar all my life and in the eighties I did lose a good job because of the so called 'free trade agreement, when your job is taken away and the government is telling you to 're train' and re start, it can be humiliating and difficult to do, and it gets very personal when you don't have food to put on the table, I know that feeling well...hopefully Trump will keep some of the many promises he made to get elected, one can only hope....Clinton seemed to have touched a nerve by insulting Trump's supporters, and they remembered at the polling booth, so goes the people....my friend, hooray! for healing unifying and moving on, but the picture you painted of Trump as ' some kind of evil dictator' and with his control of the house and senate, well, to be honest his election means something horrible for the people in your country that he will target, it's fine to forget and forgive and move on, but this may be just the beginning of his 'big fix' so I wish all Americans God's infinite grace, you are a good man Larry and America is a great country, looking behind the curtain last night was an eye opener in many ways....I like all your poems my friend, you should never have to apologize when you speak the truth with passion, tribute
My Dear Brother Poet Chris,
Believe me, I am right with you Brother! The Trump that I saw as a candidate was repugnant to me. Yet, the Trump I saw at 3:15 a.m. Wednesday morning, was a different man, praising Hillary and asking us all to honor her for her service to America. He actually touched me, and I thought to myself, "Maybe President trump will be a totally different man than Candidate Trump". I felt an easing in my heart, picked up my pen and wrote "Welcome, Mr. President". Then, later yesterday, when I heard Hillary's and Barack's speeches, pleading with America to give Donald Trump a chance, I knew I had done the right thing. So for right now, I am in a holding pattern, in what could be called "a wait and see". I have not put my sword in storage, but rather have placed it back in it's scabbard, hoping, for the good of America, that I will never need to unsheathe it. Thank you so much for your kind words and loving interest in our country.
Peace and Love,
xox Larry
