Wellspring

Wellspring

Cracked rock inseams the ground,
Winding round, all the way down.
Holding and hiding the dampening truth
Of nightmares, traumas, and broken bones

Water erodes, uncontainable to keep,
It trickles, dribbles, and begins to seep.
Finding holes in the wall meant to seal,
It breaks out, overflows, searching to heal.

It is broken, the well, made to restrain,
Stolid in form to capture the rain,
And the torrent overwhelms, sweeps under peat,
Unrooting flowers, meant to show peace.

Awash in the deluge, smothering, deep,
Forgotten to everything, but roots in sleep,
Things that were hidden, now sparkling clean
Arise from that place, reserved for dreams.
