What For

What For

Once again the blood of our young has spilled behind lock and door
Pooling, Staining our hearts and minds with grief
Conjuring emotions we swallowed deep from the last massacre.

The scene, violent and cruel creeps onto our streets
Like vomit behind teeth, clenching jaw, holding back

Ebb and flow of sickness leaves an empty feeling
Within our hearts, as if god has left us.

Candles in the park face another blacklisted house
Windows and doors infected with dark, absorb all light.

Flowers wither and weep against the cold walls
Not a cat nor dog in sight, for they are unable to withstand
The screams of newborn ghosts in fright.

I crumple against the backdrop of this horrendous crime
Clutching an empty pale, collecting tears from the passers by
To clean the blood from our eyes

We gather once more, propping ourselves up
With splintered shins and weak knees

Once more to wade through this life, Forever asking

What for?

Hi, sorry about the delay in replying, I wasn't in a great place, this poem is about another tragic true story that seems to be playing out repeatedly, two children, murderd in there homes here in Ireland, a place called ballinteer, Dublin. Its not the first time this has happened.

Thank you for your support, I take these things to heart, so much that they effect my everyday existence.

Thank you x

Hello Sir McGOWAN!!
You've nailed this subject matter to the wall here......and done it with such poetically sound fervor......you can feel the intensity behind the words of this VERY well crafted piece.......To see it happen over and over again.....to watch in helplessness at the site where the flowers are left......where the wall is temporarily erected......where loved ones come to cry their eyes out.....and then go home feeling like it's a lost cause.....like there's nothing we can do.....as though there exists a wall just for blatant massacres that simply cannot be penetrated ~

~ "Once more to wade through this life, forever asking
                 What for?..."

Amen brother....Amen......perhaps when asking such questions...one should employ more aggressive tactics....more powerfully demonstrative means of getting the answers we sincerely hope to retrieve.......Obviously, I have a vested interest in this subject matter.....I SO VERY much appreciate your having shined your poetic light on this neglected (by media & law enforcement) world of hate!!
Tons-O-Stars! & PINNED!!........LOVE & ROCKETS!!.......T xo  : )

I can see this injustice play out all over the world, I fear that I am becoming numb, I fear that my daughter will see this horror and fade away as I do, what do we do as humans, how can we stop innocent blood from blinding us.

I am sad, now and forever

Thank you Tony x

Sir McGOWAN!,
I too have similar fears...but I will not let the 'innocent blood' blind me from the fact that there IS LIGHT at the end of this, most grim, of tunnels.....there ALWAYS is...in every scenario....in every historical event.....there is ALWAYS some GOOD that comes out of great darkness.....and so I trust in the fact that the world works one way.....always has ~ always will.....it is an ever-evolving, ever-changing, spinning ball of earthly events......I send you my prayers brother.....for you and your daughter......be blessed my friend and never succumb!!.....I am your friend and admirer......T xo  : )
