Poem -

What I Am Not Getting!

What I Am Not Getting!

Ex-wife #1 – Joy  (1/2 Irish & ½ Canadian)
I do not feel you really love me.  I am not getting the love from you
                                                                        that I want!

Ex-wife #2  - Kelly  (1/2 Anglo & ½ African American)
I want to quit my job and for you give me more money.  I am not getting enough play money from you -
                                                                        that I want!

Vanessa – (Dominican)
If you loved me, you would know what I want.   I am not getting wants or needs met because you are a terrible mind reader – you should meet my needs without me telling you –
                                                                        that I want!

Leah -  (Whitebread)
I want to be friends without nookie.  A boyfriend who should be staying in the friendship zone –
                                                                         that I want!

Teresa -  (1/2 Filipina & ½ African American)
I want to get married.  A  marriage with health benefits and a step-father for my 8 year old daughter  -
                                                                        that I want!

Tiffany -  (Irish & English)
I want to go into NYC as much as possible, dine at fine restaurants and see Broadway plays.   A straight man, who loves NYC, and commuting 80 miles,  crossing the GW Bridge,  paying for parking, and for the restaurant and for Broadway shows –

                                                                        that I want!

James Curtis Geist, I'm loving this poem, so original, has such a twenty first century vibe, so fresh, and I really appreciate that you didn't lead the ready by the hand through it, you presented and left it to the reader to 'get it'....I compare it to drinking a great cup of cappuccino; you don't stop and try to figure out why you like it so much, you just do....great write, great structuring and it's unlike most writes you see around here, enjoyed that very much, terrific job, cheers poet---

Thanks Christopher C.   I appreciate your time, clarity and high handed complient in addition to throwing in your cappucinno analogy.    I turned 50 last year,  and Bukowski said most people really don't have anything to say until that age.   My students asked me to write a book,  to include the funny stories I shared with them - and I did so  (Jan. of 2017)  MODERN AUGUSTINIAN CONFESSION.    I also just finished a poetry book BOTTOM OF THE FOOD CHAIN that should be out in 3-5 days on Amazon.

I do not write for commercial success, but want to leave a legacy for family, friends, former students because writing is forever.    I have a family genology, it gives dates, occupation,  religious affiliation, but tells me nothing about the person in regards to beliefs and who the person really was.  The writing is where the gift is.

I am glad you liked the poem- cheers back at you.
