Poem -

What I See

I close my eyes and there
    I see
The little girl that once
    was me
She watches quietly,
     never sayin a word
She's sad and lonely, I
     feel her hurt
That little girl had lost
    so much
A child's life, a mother's
    luv
The hurt and pain within
    her eyes
From broken promises
    and spoken lies
A mother is supposed to
    luv and protect
But with mine, I just got
    neglect
Even I was hurt and
    beat
I never gave up nor
    claimed defeat
All these feelings I'm
    findin inside
No longer can I pretend,
    no longer hide
It wasn't me nor my
    sin
I'm diggin deep and
    lookin within
Speakin out about the
    pain
Teachin others to do
    the same
