What If

What If

What if Jerusalem is a state of mind and not a city

What if the poor were not people to be looked upon with pity
What if Christmas represented a spiritual not a physical birth
What if the battles take place in our mind and not on Earth
What if this season is about man becoming like God
What if it was never supposed to be a commercialized facade
What if Noah's 3 sons represent the 3 levels of the mind
What if the rapture means no one gets left behind
What if in reality there wasn't a wooden ark
What if to sin only means to miss the mark
What if life isn't about being wrong or right
What if someone is trying to save us from a circuitous fight
What if Jesus represents an idea being born
What if an illness wasn't the cause of Paul's thorn
What if there were no divisions or multiple sects
What if we just treated each other with love and respect
What if we lived in harmony because of our belief
What if death happened without the experience of grief

Maybe we're supposed to ask these questions of what if
And the answers under evergreen trees became our real gift.
