What would life be like without Family?

What would life be like without family?
without siblings looming largely in your life and their jokes go too far that can drive you to insanity;
without the eldest who has too much on her plate
nags every time you come home late;
without the second, caught in the middle, complaints a lot; receives a little;
without the ' youngest one' you can see, epicurious; life of every party 
no one dares to disagree. 

What would life be like without family?
Life will be boring
when there's no laughter 
that echoes through walls and rafter;
no photo albums to turn the pages
see how you've changed through the ages;
no one will keep you dry 
when you come wet from the rain
help see the sunshine again;
They're the ones you can call
and catch you when you fall
step right up and walk again
but, if constantly on an endless journey 
you'll find yourself on a gurney.
