WHAT MAKES THIS YOUNG BOY CRY

Something concerns me and I'm not going to lie
What I wonder makes this young boy cry ? 
He's only five and has several more years ahead
So many things to enjoy but I see tears instead 

This young boy has a tissue for his best friend 
He smiles to be brave but this is only pretend 
A young boy surely should be happy and carefree
The tears on his face is the thing that gets to me 

I asked his mother the reason for her son's tears
She explains he's seen things beyond his years 
I didn't persue what they were or what he's seen
Goes without saying they must be evil and mean
