What's in a Name?
the birth of a child, is a special event
for mother and father, it's God's gift he sent,
I was three days old and clutched to her breast
when my mother could feel uncertain at best,
the doctor came in with a nurse by his side
he called on the priest for they thought I had died,
they gave me last rights, and the sign of the cross
all would experience a baby's life lost,
they waited beside me, to hear my heart stop
but my father would pray in the church quite a lot,
he promised the Lord if he gave him the right
to raise up his daughter, not give up this fight,
each step in God's house, my father would pray
please let my girl live, I will pray every day,
for the rest of my life, for my family and wife
we will give her our love, look after her life,
hours had passed and my mother had cried
finally dad had come by her side,
to hold her and tell her that God heard him say
please let her live and we'll baptise her...Faith

Hi FAITH!!...... this was a VERY compelling read!!...... The power of prayer has been proven over and over by countless peoples the world over to be truth!!...... this is a beautifully executed narrative piece...... with reader being led throughout by the ~ "will she live or die" question!!....... whether or not this is based on a true life experience is also a part of the equation here.... allowing the reader participate in its poetic intensity !!...... VERY well crafted dear poet sister!!......ALL STARS!!!.... LOVE and ROCKETS!!....T xo ??✴????
Thank you so much Tony, there is much truth to it, a much longer story however I was to be baptised 'Alison' and because I almost died from complications at birth, my father did go to a famous church in Montreal and prayed on the steps for me to live, thus promising to call me Faith. Alison is now my middle name. I often get asked how i got my name, I am very proud of it and glad i could share it on this forum through a poem. I often wonder how others got their names and stories.
