when

What happens to me,
if you decide to leave?
When I'm all alone,
when no one will see,
the scars on my arms,
where the metal bites,
when I cut deep.
Night after night.
What happens to me,
when I loose you?
When I'm all alone,
and my heart fails too.
When I'm too weak,
to stand on my own,
and I fly away,
to my forever home.

Some might say you're "emo", Alyssa.
Emo is such a terribly misconstrued and misused word.
In contemporary culture it is utilized as a broad term to describe a multitude of teenagers and young adults who straighten their hair, are "cutters", have their hair in their face, perhaps dye it black, and wear tight clothing.
Unfortunately this is completely inaccurate.
"Emo" music existed in the late 80's and was a sub-genre of hardcore punk rock ("emo" is a shortening of "Emotional hardcore"). The people in early emo bands dressed like regular people–everyday guys/girls who just played music that they enjoyed. Sadly, since the formulation and ongoing existence of Hot Topic, the term emo has been incorrectly characterized for a little more than a decade.
You have to wonder how the original bands feel about the slandering and mass misunderstanding and misuse of their originality with those of the unoriginal.
Suicide is never the answer. In my opinion it's the cowards way out.
