When Did You Last Make Love?

When Did You Last Make Love?

Oldies make love but not the same as that old fervour,
of course, they can still say that they will love you forever;
remember what it used to be like in those good old days,
when it was mandatory to explore the parting of the ways.

However, there may be a high price for emotional involvement,
due to expectations, unyielding and being so intransigent;
if you're lucky, then that is wonderful, who gives out the luck?
Give and take, tolerance, be prepared to give the right tuck.

John said that he'd had two wives, I said that I'd had three,
was that due to my stubbornnness or a lack of mystery?
Much to be said for living on your own, do as you please,
they say I'll be lonely, you may have to pay the legal fees.

No matter, you take your chance, we'll meet again one day,
no one to argue with, they said that I'd miss her, so they say.
