When I Dream of Neptune

Remember

When I Dream of Neptune

Remember when we used to take walks at night?
The road from your father's house to the cliff was so very dark
I held your hand to keep you from terror and fright
But it was me that was feeling fear coming near
The darker the way became the more I could hear
My craven heart

Remember when we sat on that cliff gazing at the stars?
The gap between us was gone
You held me, kissed me and my heart was redder than Mars
I could feel myself fly and surpass the moonlit clouds
And I could feel your heart closer to mine as the night encased
Our scared young love

Remember when we walked back in the thick of the darkness?
I picked you up and carried you and I swear I could see
My dream of marrying you and a power I could harness
Of taking you to the moon, the stars and Neptune
You asked me, "Why Neptune?" and I said I just wanted to be different
