Poem -

When I Go?

by Maranisha Rivers, grade 12

We left that night with all these goodbyes.
Both with eyes that were ready to cry.
What do I say when I see him today?
I pray this conversation goes a good way.

She closed her eyes as she said hi
Afraid of what he might say.
She opened her eyes and began to cry
And she said “I can’t do this. Not Today.”
She felt a hand as rough a sand
Pulling her towards his way.

You can not leave
I beg you please.
I tugged her sleeve
Just to put my aching heart at ease.

Just tell me one thing and you can go.

What must you know?

Will you always love me when I go?

A touching story of a loved one leaving
With one left behind, to do the grieving
Asking only that one question
Will you still love me the expression
Thank you for the lovely poem
