When I lie awake at night...

When I lie awake at night...

When I lie awake at night,
It almost seems that there is no light,
Like my world has gone dark,
Where the fear starts to embark.
This is when I am at my weakest,
When I could easily be defeated.
But then when I hear this voice,
Saying child please sleep,
I do so, I lay down defenseless
And I sleep.
But in those few hours,
It's like the demons are invading,
Taking away all my happiness.
And when I wake up,
I have been drained of energy before the day even starts.
So when you next sleep, think of all that could have been,
And then think of that voice,
The one that has always looked out for you.
Listen to it.
