When I See You

My legs will be long, I will be tall like my father

The color of my hair is auburn,  like Audrey Hepburn

My eyes blue, like Aunt Marge, the color of the sky when it's crystal clear

Once tiny little fingers, now long slender, as they play the piano I think of you

I have dimples when I laugh and when I smile

I will be the one with the bright orange carry on with some mystery books I read on the way

Please don't feel bad if I start to cry when I get off of the plane

I know it wasn't your fault you got pregnant so young, my adopted parents are really okay

Okay with me leaving and growing up, like you they say feeling a bit blue

They are proud of me just like you, when I see you today, I hope I can stay

Get to know you better the photo in my wallet is getting wrinkled and faded

When I See you, I'll know, because just like me you have dimples too

I will be holding your picture tight in my hand hoping you made it safely

Just hope you know, mom, I've always loved you
