When morning broke

When morning broke.
Did you dream of me? she said
her eyes looked down, mine looked up
through waves of golden windy hair
I smelled a shepherd’s myrrh
It’s time for smile and sigh
my pillow damp, my sheet a mess
the day is short, the night is nigh
my lips long for a kiss
I turn on her my cheeks and eyes
sin with me a pleasant sin
she dipped her thirsty face in mine
alas for you that slept all night
for joy that dies, for love that dies
you didn’t think of me tonight.

Thank you, dear Tony.
