Poem -

When My Guard Comes Down

You look at me with fear.
You look at me with disgust.
But you have never seen me without my guard.
My guard that protects me from words and weapons.

The truth is, you don’t know me.
You don’t know the fun I have behind your back.
You are completely oblivious to what happens after work.
As an assassin, my guard is all I have.

When I take off my guard,
I am a girl who is not yet 15.
My hard outer shell is simply a mask.
When my guard comes down,

I am a shivering, sad, empty little girl.
I hope no one finds out.
I hope I can remain strong.
I hope my guard never comes down.
