WHEN THE ANGEL CAME

WHEN THE ANGEL CAME

The curtains began to close
Time was running out
I had no idea
What this was all about
I wasn't prepared, I'm not ready
To lose the one I love
I tried to hold the sands of time
And prayed to God above
But time was slipping quickly
Like tiny grains of sand
The hourglass was nearly empty
When the Angel came and took his hand
When I entered the room
There was peace, a smile on his face
When the Angel came and called his name
His suffering left without a trace
He tried hard to stay, but he had to go
As he took his last breath
Of this I truly know
He's gone, but I still feel him
I hold him in a place called the heart
Where we can be together, forever
And never have to part
In Heaven, there is no hourglass
No tiny grains of sand
No sense that time is running out
But God's love, forever spanned

Thank you Sparrowsong. This was written for a dear friend who recently lost her husband that she was married to for forty years. She feels the loss, the sorrow and grief but she said she's being strong for her husband. She is such an inspiration. Your words of encouragement are much appreciated!
