Where Are We Now

Reservation is what it is called, we found ourselves in a place we did not choose
Though we did not find our true destination, we still find peace among our people
The smoke upon the mountain, the feast upon the fire
The love among our family, the cry of a newborn
Woven rugs lay in our bed, hides of the hunt cover us in the winters cold
Our ties of Cherokee never leave our heartbeat
As we continue to hear the drums of our dance
Where are we now, we have no shame as there is a promise, a chance for a new beginning
In the honor of the highest of. our chiefs name
