While I'm Sleeping (Dance of Death - Macabre)

While I'm Sleeping (Dance of Death - Macabre)

The music of the wailing souls, in the dark of night,

torment and tangle in my mind, reality's tossed away,

twisting tales into my world, I dance unsettled plight,

a broke recording, not worth storing, in a trance I sway;

They come into my dreams to play, and cause me much dismay,

lines are crossed, dimensions lost, some overlap and merge,

"Oh come with me into my tomb, we'll dance the night away,

impurities inspire me, we'll dissolve in cleansing purge."

The decrepit man then takes my hand,

"listen to the melody, echo on my grave,"

I shiver and shrill, in the dark foreboding land,

"Come my dear, the inevitable clear, be brave."

In hesitation struck with fear, I'm stuck with Rigor Mortis,

engulfed in darkness, death has come,

to sing the final chorus,

"The dance is done, I'll take a bow, I've won."

Hey, Kerry.
Welcome to Cosmo!
This piece is a bit of an enigma because it has such a fun, bouncy rhythm and beat to it when read aloud, but the subject matter is dark and eerie.
I think that's pretty cool!
Great first entry, dear poet!

This poem is an art of perfect writing. I love these kinds of poem. Though I m not a professional writer, but the words and sentence framing is just awesome.
