WHISKEY POURED------ WORDS SMOKED

WHISKEY POURED------ WORDS SMOKED

Whiskey poured
as the smoke from your words spell burnt horizons
distance the sermon
on the practiced wires
footsteps hang in a noose braided in survival
heaven calls inside the medicated sky

Friendship undusted
tested through those double glazed eyes
dollars spring as gravestones
spilling over those marble thighs

Bibles hide in the privacy
of those deemed worth keeping
love gave
leaves me blind
fumbling in a stutters verb

Sadness
is the orchid
abandoned in the house
invisible feeds the family mouth
tiny metal statues
the line in stigmata applause
blood draws such a crowded claw

Coward
beneath the oak
shredded in life's bitter fear
lies under his cloak
lies beaten by his father's cheers

Whiskey poured
as the steel finger pokes
tiny flaking ash
they once threw as hope

WHISKEY POURED
