Wicked

Something wicked this way comes,
Dire heartbeat briskly strums.
O' how amber eyes beguile,
Jaundice fangs keenly smile.
Swallow angst or malice hears,
Guttural growl fleetly nears.
Hush now, lay so still and quiet
Lest ye be a sanctioned diet
Wistful fables shepherd sleep,
PrayersΒ abide celestialΒ keep.
Tales I'm told so honey sweet,
Beasties do prefer sweetmeat.
Dream of tombs, flowery fair,
Rest in pieces decaying there.
Count markers bit by bit,
One more casualty solemnly writ.
Steely plaque festoons a grave,
TisΒ safe harbor thou must crave.
Prudent words carved in rock,
So lambaste nary be forgot.
Pristine satin pools bloodred,
A chilling plight to rest a head.
Cover eyes, hold faint breath,
Assured to render untimely death.

Great nod to Ray Bradbury's classic circus themed terror tale, 'Something Wicked This Way Comes', Lisa.
The line 'Something wicked this way comes' was originally written by Shakespeare in Macbeth. I just love this line so much, I don't even know why, but it gives me all the spooks and scares and just....I want to know the answer what or who is this wicked?
I guess we all get that feeling right? When you just know inside that something is about to happen or when you see the black sky in summer and you know that rain or a storm or something wicked is coming you way.
This poem is amazing!Β
Now if you'll excuse me, I gotta go look under my bed before I go to sleep.
Ahem, heh-heh...
