THE WIDOW'S WEB

âTwo lovebirds lying on a bed
Besotted with their mate
Unaware of the Black Widowâs web
Whose plan would seal their fate ......â
*************************
She awoke to him that morning
Felt his sunshine on her face
A sunbeam smile teased her lips
She soaked up his embrace
Could hear the songbirds calling
The tap, tap, tapping on the pane
She looked at him but didnât see
The onset of the rain
Cocooned within their loverâs nest
Wrapped in a web of lies
The spider dangled from on high
To pounce on these sad flies
The Black Widow had been watching
Hurt oozed from every pore
Hungry now to feed on pain
Of a man she did adore
Still, the songbirds they kept calling
Warning lovebirds to take flight
Undo this vile cobweb
See the spider in their sight
For they had known this wicked widow
She consumed this poor manâs lust
Digested whole then spat him out
Absorbing all his trust
Now the lovebirds built their nest
With hope and tender love
They delved into their heartâs desire
Sought help from friends above
Their love began to shine so bright
Two hearts joined up as one
He felt the warmth of her radiant smile
The rain it had now gone ....
But the sunshine haze it couldnât last
And teardrops fell once more
The lovebirds saw the rainbow
But not the glistening âweb of warâ ...
**************
âTwo lovebirds lying on a bed
Oblivious to their fate
Fallen in the Widowâs web
Whoâs now hungry for her mate .......â
