Willie
1. I was raised by a cowboy.
An outlaw in his younger day.
He sent me down the wrong of life at times.
But he taught me how to play.
He introduced me to lady music.
He said "Son she'll never do you wrong"
" 'Cause whe the world is stacked against you,
She will confort you, with her songs"
Chours
Willie where are you?
Did you ride off in the blue?
Well I know it's none too macho.
I'll say it any way...
"Will I miss you"
2. He taught me how to drink whiskey.
And I've been told I drank too much.
He told me all about the ladies in the barrooms.
The band stands and sawdust and stuff.
But I ain't forgot about us fishing.
Or ridding horses on the rocks.
Or playing with them old rattlesnakes and badgers.
Or the man to man talks.
Chours
3. The fate of life made him a driver.
Heard he was pushing eighteen wheels.
Ridding hard for that next town.
Giving his best to pay the bills.
If I never see him again.
Well I would want, him to know.
That I gave the gift, on down to my kids.
May God be with you, wherever you go.
Last Chorus
Willie where are you?
Did you ride off in the blue?
Well I know it's none too macho.
I'll say it anyway.
....................
"Dad I love you"
Willie where are you?
Did you ride off in the blue?
Well I know it's none too macho.
I'll say it anyway.
....................
"Dad I love you"
I was raised by a cowboy...an outlaw in his younger day.

A tribute to William Lloyd Palmer.
When I was 14 I met my new brother and law Willie. He took the time to listen to me and taught me to stand up for myself. Later on that year I did just that. And stood up to my religious and abusive father and his wife.
With no room for me at my mother and her husbands house. My older sister and her husband Willie took on the responsibility of raising me.
Willie was not only a brother-in-law, legal guarding but has earned the title of Dad.
He was in fact a hell raiser as a teen and was giving the option of jail or the U.S.M.C.
He chose the Corps and turned his life around. He proudly fought and survived the Korean War.
He also taught me how to fish, play music and write songs.
At 17 years he hired me to play in his band first as a drummer than on bass guitar.
We would play music through out Wyoming.
Later on after I had served in the Army he contained to help me in life.
He enjoyed driving Trucks and entertaining people and was able to record his original music in a professional studio.
I recorded a simple version of this song on a cassette tape and sent it to him. Later that same year he passed on but leaving his family and friends with many joyful, hilarious and wonderful memories. His lady friend had told me that he was overjoyed and honored by this song and enjoyed the other ones on the tape.
He was truly a remarkable, original and honest man. I think of him daily as my life has been influenced greatly by his example.
Hey Cherie. Your welcome and thank you for your compliment and comment.
I would like to share a song that Willlie wrote that impressed me. It's not a very happy song but it touched my heart and taught me to be brave enough to share feelings.
G
Love like we shared,
D
When we first met.
C G
Was like dreams come true.
D
We were so happy,
C G
Just me and you.
G
Now it's all gone,
D
Like the spring snow,
C G
You say that we're through.
D
And it's all over,
C G
What can I do?
( chourse)
Em
Now here's my heart,
G
Torchered with pain,
Em
Now comes the tears,
G
Falling like rain.
C
I turn to the wine,
G
Like most fools will do.
D C
In my mind, hollow laughter, saying everafter.
G
We are through.
