Wings

Wings

She spread her arms out wide.
Wishing that she could grow wings,
and turn into a butterfly.
Wanting to fly higher than a bird,Β
and when she did, she used the shore-line as a guide.Β

While watching the sunset her eyes would come alive.
Wishing that she could sail across the ocean to find the end of the line.
Wanting to capture the sun in her hands,
and when she did, she let out a war cry.

She gazed up at the dark night, not feeling the slightest bit guilty for stealing everyone's light,Β
yet the billions of stars lit up the night.
Wishing that she too could stand out so bright,
when she did, she was quite a beautiful sight.Β

She believed in herself,
and when you believe in yourself,
everything impossible turns,
possible.Β
