Winning The Peace

For what was imposed the vanguished were grateful,

Facing what is as bleak and foreboding as any foresee.

Judges displayed courage of reasoning that's undeniable,

Placing principles before condemnation of their enemy !

Freedoms greatest victory did not lead to pure revenge.

Sentences were fair to those surrendering with honour !

Prisoners were given opportunity to make just amends,

Because generations applauded those valuing the future.
