Winter Blues

Winter Blues

How might I sway the day
to share a bit of sun?

How might the grey
be washed away
and sleeping birds
be coaxed to chirp?
Let winters bite begone

For these mornings
feel like hollow lungs
beneath a placid sky

The beads of winters breath lay strung
In muted tongue
the air is wrung
Each day put out to die

Tell me how might I pull back the sun
From falling from the sky?

AMAZING phrasing here dear poet sister....and then the formatting used to accent some of those phrases.....this is an absolute measure of what it means to be a STELLAR writer.....as opposed to being an average writer.....the wielding of words to their absolute heights.....in this case....conveying the bleakness of what it means to deal with depression.....ALL STARS & PINNED!!......Bravo GWENDOLINE!!....truly impressive work!!......LOVE & ROCKETS!!......T xo  : )

Blimey Tony, your words are always so encouraging and I don’t necessarily feel so worthy of such feedback. But wow do you put a smile on my face with such kind and generous commentary. I am so grateful you read my work and leave me your thoughts. They are always such a highlight to read. Thank you for being your awesome self and for being my friend

Gwen beautiful and beguiling writing, you had me hooked on your two opening lines and everything else just seems to flow so smoothly and effortlessly like a natural poetry progression.
And this reader caught up in your poem and feels all the better from doing so.
A seamless poem, a gliding on silk poem and a feel good about oneself after reading.
Pure poetry satisfaction.
Beautifully done. x.
