Poem -

winter love

Love's breath hast thou defeated me,
With wintry sighs so bitterly.
In frost's own heart, no warmth to find,
A barren chill that's unrefined.

The sun doth hide, its rays retreat,
As love's own touch turns obsolete.
In shadows cold, her spirit lay,
Awaiting dawn's forgiving ray.

Yet through the frost, a whisper weaves,
Of spring's return 'neath frozen eaves.
A thawing hope, by patience freed,
Alas, love's breath hast defeated me.
