A Winters Scene

A Winters Scene
The snow falls like a blue mist.
Under the glow
of the paper winter moons light.
a sleigh jingles by the horse
stepping surely in the
snow covered street.
The lady is beautiful
He looks at her adoringly.
Her white fur hat
Framing her face in the winter wind.
Even in my solitary existence.
I feel no envy for such loveliness.
For this night is a gift.
From all the angels in heaven.
Green cedars are now
dusted with snow.
The tips of their
Christmas tree branches
are reflecting starlight like candles.
In the distance I can hear the choir.
From the old stone church in the village.
The timeless carols
that have lived forever
are floating me back
to my childhood.
So very long ago.
Wrapped in memories of firelight
and my mother preparing
our Christmas fayre.
The old streetlamps ignite
And the falling snowflakes
Are as feathered down
melting on my upturned face.
I see my grandchildren arrive
They are excited
and full of this seasons joy.
They are infected with the
happiness virus of Christmas.
It is virulent
and highly contagious.
As my heart burst with joy
At all that I have
been graced with in my life.
