Wish There Were an Angel

Wish There Were an Angel

Wish There Were an Angel
Β
Afraid that if I were to sleep I would not wake
Your love doesn’t give but it only seems to take
Β
You represent the many crosses that I wear
Through my tender heart your angry words tear
Β
Your bitter words cut just like a knife
You have me fighting for my very life
Β
My heart and soul are not good enough for you
Your kind of love can be so heartless and cruel
Β
Our love has turned to ashes on the floor
You’ve left in the rain without closing the door
Β
From the ashes I swear I will again rise
And wipe the falling teardrops from my eyes
Β
How I wish I had an angel by my side
Heal my broken heart and mend my pride
Β
An angel to wash away all of the rain
And to bandage all of my heart’s pain
Β
May a heavenly angel grace himself?
Allowing me to breathe new life into myself
Β
Allow me to touch the heavens above
Offering me a cure for this broken love
Β
End all the melancholy my heart has endured
Show me a love that reins simple and pure
Β
An angel to wash away the sands of time
Take away the aching pain in this heart of mine
Β
If there were an angel to light my darkened night
Make my wounded soul to again feel alright
Β
Angel please enter my broken heart to stay
Once I have found you say you’ll never go away
Β
If there were an angel who could do all this for me
Then he would surely set my broken heart free
