Without You

Without You

The birds aren’t chirping.
The sky has gone away.
The children are no longer laughing.
There is no more day.
The silence is loud.
The echo is sharp.
My feet are on the ground.
I can only feel my heart.
The world is turning.
I am standing.
Your absence clear.
It is stranding.
A soulless touch.
A dark abyss.
No light can see what it does not miss.
A darkened room.
Knees to the floor.
A cry of fear.
I can take no more.
A panic quiet.
Not enough for you to hear.
A heart softened.
Longs to have you near.
A song without music.
A night without day.
A piano without keys.
There is no one to play.
A meaningless voice, yet so much to be said.
A distant voice, compassion instead.
A lie without a tongue.
A box without a key.
I would much rather be you without me.
