A WOLF IN SHEEP'S CLOTHING

A WOLF IN SHEEP'S CLOTHING

Deep beneath the smiles

Of an innocence so true

There lay a deep despair

And a hate for all she knew

Her little face would crumble

Every time he came around

She tried to blend into the walls

And wouldn’t make a sound

But no matter where she hid

He would seek her out like prey

He’d find her and he’d fuss her

In the room she’d have to stay

Her Mother was quite taken

Her Father even more

This beast was most beguiling

He had played this game before

‘You’re such a lucky couple

To have a daughter that’s so sweet

You really are the cutest

She is good enough to eat!”

Just like the big bad wolf

He would take her to his lair

He would groom her and he’d force her

Shed a tear and say a prayer

And so this carried on

The beauty and the beast

But this was no dream fairytale

He the devil; she his feast!!

Then one day she buckled

Couldn’t take the weight no more

He’d become the beast of burden

She just cowered on the floor

Her Mother she was scared

And cradled her so tight

“What has happened to my baby

Let me help you with your plight!”

But her baby she just lay there

Curled up lost within her arms

Thinking they’d believe the lies

Him and his wicked charms

Her Mother was now worried

And she called the Father home

The father turned up with the beast

Now was his cover blown?

From the corner of a tearstained eye

The little girl did see

Her nemesis walk in the room

To the corner she did flee

Falling in a heap

And curling up so tight

She let out an almighty scream

One that filled the room with fright

‘No!!’ she wailed, as the beast came forth

Her Mother took a turn

‘You!!’ her mother cried

As she feared of what she'd learn

The father now was looking

He could not believe his ears

‘No, look you’ve got it wrong!’

The beast let out a sneer

There was no need to say a word

The parents now they knew

Their child that they had cherished

Was destroyed; no longer true

As the beast he fled the room

The father’s blade it did now reign

He finished off that big bad wolf

The beast he was now slain....

Such a sad story! The one I have is from the healing side in 'Torn And Tattered" and "Our Disgrace" was about abuse of the father. So I know the feelings and they are a shame that some must feel them. You always write very well and your story telling is at the top also. Good job, Anthony
