Wondering if

I am wondering if
I should be less controversial
As a poet:
Yet I do not wish
To be bland.

My favourite dead poet
Is Philip Larkin
And for the most part
He manages to steer
Clear of controversial
Matter whilst still
Being able to make
You think.

Perhaps I could
Use him as role model-
Not that I wish to
Parody his work,
But I could look to him
For inspiration.
