Poem -

THE STONE TREES

I walk beneath the concrete sky
see wooden flowers pass me by
in haze
beneath the trees
of mottled stone

observe doomed birds
who seek to fly
who still have hope
of flight and try
to soar away and flee
on mere wings

I wish myself
to rise above
to sit alone

on cotton clouds
and watch the sea of love
roll in and out

to dip my toes upon the shores
where light might open all the doors
and lead me to such truths
I've yet to know

and change a sky from grey to blue
so I might smell the flowers too
and feel the trees
that crush me
breath again.
