Words

The Words I think
I cannot utter
Or will not
Does it matter?
Ā
The words I utter
Does not matter
Silly musings
Silly girls
Donāt I matter?
Ā
The words I utter
Are not mine
They take shape
From my mother, father,
Brother and sister.
Nana and Nono.
Who will free me
From this prison
Of words
Ā
The words I should utter
Will not stutter
Will slice my chains opens
For my prince charming
Is born of chauvinism
And the tower Iām in
Is the home I built.
Ā
The words Iāll utter
Will free the winds
Trample the elephant
In the room
Itāll give my child
The rights to be cherished
The rights that eluded me.
Ā
For now the words Iāll utter
Is tucked away
In the back of my heart
Away from the way
Away from sight
Iāll unleash them in time
Like a torrent of flies
Onto the world
Onto their faces
Theyāll look at me stunned
And theyāll think
Where did the words come from?
Ā
