Words Said. Unsaid. Deeds Done. Not Done

He half wrote the poem on
A piece of paper at work
To get the idea
Off his chest then and there

Only half intending
To write it out for
Others to see.
It was after all

A topic which he
Had covered before
(More than once)
And he suspected
That his readers

Would have grown
Weary of him
Writing about it
Once again.

He was aware that
He had a knack of
Rubbing people up
The wrong way:

An unfortunate habit
And one he wished
To break.

Recently he had taken
To making short
Amateurish films
Of his local town

Something he hoped
Would be of interest
To future historians
A solitary pursuit

And during the course
Of filming he had
Been made aware of
Privacy implications

He had not fully considered
And he had annoyed
One or two people.
Hindsight and learning.

He had his own
Problems having
Lately become too
Fond of drink

And he recalled
The old mantra
"What you resist
Persists

And what you
Embrace dissolves"
Whether that applied
To obsessions

He was not sure.
The next day he
Saw the poem he
Had half- written

On paper.
And threw it away.
Other ideas would come.
