Work In Progress

Work In Progress

They said that I was very good, did I believe?
'Oh what a wicked web we weave, when we practise
to deceive; I was lucky, maybe guided from above;
how many times can you really fall in love?

Someone said a thousand times, I'd rather not,
you can not recall everything that time forgot,
but maybe you'll know, they say, when you find it,
I did, and ate it all up, quietly, just bit by bit.

What did I learn? Not to be wicked and deceive,
after so many times, discarding and having to leave,
like a toy, no longer needed, just put to one side,
but they're still there, they had no need to hide.

Oh yes, you got the house with the infinity pool,
they always said that there's no fool like an old fool.
