Wotan's End

Wotan's End

As wood-bird sings the ravens’ longed-for end
Where thought and memory, strength and wisdom meet
The wolfling shadows silently attend
The closing eye of Wotan’s dying feat.
A youthful, joyous laughter now rings out
Reducing to a whisper, elder sighs
The Joyful One ascends the fiery mount
Intent to open wide those god-closed eyes.
The mighty spear is now a feeble crutch
(an aid to wand’rings on the mountainside)
The faded runes ~ no longer fearful match
For blade now slaked with Fafnir’s homicide.
Thrown down, at last ~ he slips beyond his time
Not given to a long and slow decline.

My Dear Friend Jason,

You challenge my mind with your words erudite
As I try to ingest them in the still of the night
I peruse about Fafnir, and Scandinavian lore
The son of Hreidmar, and Guardian of Nibelung Hoard

My mind challenged
Learns from this erudite man
"Scholar of Cosmo"

Peace and Love,
Larry xxx

My dear Larry,
So sorry for the delayed response...I meant to reply to this yesterday, but then got distracted and waylaid by other things; a fact which just proves the point of the following:

laurels are misplaced
and debased on the crown of
this simple poet

your friend & fan,
J ;)

My Dear Friend Jason,

Simplicity none
Such depths of intricacy
Laurels deserved

Peace and Love,
