~ WRETCHED HEARTS ~

~ WRETCHED HEARTS ~

If the great darkness thinks it dark
If the bejeweled daylight thinks it jeweled
They know not the blood-red western ways
For I've fired and bulleted, and shotgun dueled....

Death and eternity are but toys
Morning and midnight, the ups and downs of
The reflections that make the Lucipher-noise
A battle cry from angels and the bloodied above...

City after city, a wounded non-existence
Where, in the last humiliated houses
Rolled on dying, and crying without resistance
For I've fired, inspired, and all without pauses...

Through and from between
The incestuous and the insidious
I've brought the Nostradamus Quatrains
And Revelations remains
I've swept and I've wept
Now, from my Father's breast
I've brought to you, my youth
My name is Jesus
Search your wretched hearts
For you are my proof
I am the light
And I've Come
For you...

Hey T...This is so dramatic with the leading apocalyptic imagery and doom and pain...and then the ending surprised me!  Greatly!  I did not see the hope and prophesy fulfillment coming with Jesus!  As bad as the end times will be, there is always the promise at the end that Satan will not win and there will be renewal of a new Heaven and Earth.  As scary as death is in its torturous portrayal, there is hope for life through Christ...which made your whole poem just change direction from its wretchedness.... very cool how you did that. Awesome work, T.  You are always so original.    Love n Hugs, xo C

Well Tony, what a great reflective poem and as you know, I love stunning endings, and by Christ, this is stunning.
'My name is Jesus
Search your wretched hearts
For you are my proof
I am the light
And I've Come
For you...'
I really was not expecting that, but what it does, is to glue the poem together and allow us some insight and not to be so forlorn. There is light at the end of the tunnel. I am not particularly religious, but I don't think the poem is either. It is more of a statement to make us feel better about ourselves. You truly are a genius. Pinned and loved.
