Written on the wall

Alternate: 3 Mirrors

Written on the wall

Weight against the flowing tide
Forged papers elitist's sign
Paperback. Between the lies.
Your word is fact, with
A bounce in your stride.

But from the corner
Of a crowded room
I wish you went long ago.
When they were only

Warning shots
Calling bluffs
Fake negotiations
And all that stuff

Pulling punches
Keeping grudges
One up for grabs
Divide the numbers.

Front row seat
And I'm the remainder
Rigged.
You briefed them
Tricked.
You trained em

So in the end

I travelled
Over the hills and far away
With wool over eyes
I was left astray

Soot and the slime
Smoke and 3 Mirrors
Praise the sinners
For one man's loss
Is another's fake gain

Snap
Crackle
Fissile
Pop

Vicious cycle.
Dog eat dog

A world of 2 goals
It is written on the walls
And built on the rubble.
That's beginning to fall
Set on the sight.
Doesn't matter at all.

Who's winning?
Because I can't tell

Ohhh...lot of bitterness here Max...reads like massive grudge against someone or someone's, and on a much deeper level the unfairness...the randomness of life. The unfairness of the game which in my experience only the most horrible of people ever win and that's mostly because...they are horrible!! Keep being nice Max there is far more to be gained in the long run...least that's what the instructions say though I've yet to find it to be true. PS...you inspired my recent post or rather my ramble to you did...lol..sorry...😬😆 Great write here Max...hugs 💖

What can I say Max, there ain’t no flies on you my friend :) You can spot a rotten apple that’s for sure, and I am so glad you noticed and got rid. Some people are just plain nasty. What I also like about this piece are the hidden gems of old sayings nestled in your verses. A great punchy write which I hope helped you feel a bit better
Your friend

Hi Gwen, thanks so much for your kind comment... yes lol, it does seem that way... at least they are disappearing from my life... Hopefully for good. I`m so glad you picked up on one of the most influential techniques in writing my poetry!! To be honest, I reckon I daydream about these old sayings and phrases, I love how they have developed in society with such stark meanings. I find they help connect people with what I write. To be honest, I haven't really thought about it to now. Thank you so much! Gwen. It did help me, as they say, better on paper than between the ears. :) Hope you are well my friend.
