You Burn Me Down

A Love You Can Never Have

You Burn Me Down

                                                      You Burn Me Down

Burning, singing, the day...
Of a love burning to ever decay in this warmth so breathtaking.
Every step drawn to the light, breaths grow more still and lesson.
Chest tightening, warmth overwhelming.
The closer I get, the burning breeds reluctance, but a love stronger than any doubt is dangerous. So on I step...
Your eyes are like the sun, blinding and hot, though your stare is light icy chills through me, but the singing remains.
Your beauty and grace is like a siren, calling from the light,
And I grow fragile, in this helpless, hopeless embrace. Weak
and full of panic, I travel with false belief that your light will strengthen me, but what is found is only a singing pain, and to be so close is to weaken so vastly, oh, ever the slightest touch would shatter me at your feet.
You build me up, you break me down
You burn me to the ground...
As ever I draw close to your vain
All that's left is a searing pain
And here I lay, shattered, begging for the rain...

Thank you, I appreciate that. It wasn't an easy one to write. The pain I write about isn't just words, but very much a part of me. But writing is my respite from the fray.
