Poem -

You Left

You healed my injured heart,
Only to shatter it as if glass.
You fixed all of my injuries,
Only to leave me hurting worse.
You displayed to me happiness,
Only to leave behind misery.
You told me you loved me,
Only for it to become a twisted lie.
You taught me to swim,
Only to drown me in sorrow.
You showed me kindness,
Only to leave me with bruises.
You promised me your heart,
Only to leave me with mental scars.
You retrieved me my smile,
Only to leave me in tears.
You rebuilt my trust,
Only to leave behind rubble.
You vowed your commitment,
Only to leave me standing ‘lone.
You pledged your loyalty,
Only to abandon me in the cold.
You assured me you’d stay forever,
Only to leave me broken;
To leave me unable to smile.
Unable to even cry.
You left me numb and detached.
You left.
