Young Eyes

Young Eyes

When I was a little girl

I thought I could rule the world.

I would slide down hills ready to slay dragons

with swords or lance or whatever I imagined.

I would go on quests to find the golden flower

only to get rashes from weeds and itch for hours.

I would travel alone to places afar

only to get rewarded with yelling from my mother.

I would chase dreams

like a wolf child chasing moon beams.

Now I'm grown

the only world I rule is my own

I drive down streets

that look like pathways before me

I follow my stomach that houses my intuition

that propels me into my ambition

I chase possibilities

that lay like dandelions in the wind

no telling where that will lead me
