Your Beddie In Heaven

One year ago on this saddest of days, I had to tell you goodbye;
I did this so very reluctantly, with tears pouring out from my eyes!
I leaned down to kiss you one final time, and then I had to let go;
The time had now come that we had to part, how I did this I never will know!
For I loved you much more than I loved myself, my soul I had pledged just to you;
Now without you to lay here right by my side, what was I going to do!
How could I ever learn how to live, without your most tender felt touch;
How could I ever accept your great loss, the soulmate I loved oh so much!
I thought that I’d possibly lose of my mind, insanely torn so in two;
Crying out for something to happen, somehow be reunited with you!
Then a message arrived to help ease the pain, you sent it from far up above;
It said “Daddy please write lots of your poetry, and immortalize me with your love”!
And so it’s been for this whole lonely year, the pen doth out might the sword;
It saved my life to write poems of you, as you’re living up there with the Lord!
I’m sure that you are so comfortable, in your beddie by His pearly gate;
And when it comes my time to join you again, I know it is there that you’ll wait!
