Your Holy Light

Many teardrops have fallen from these eyes
Mine are the raindrops from clear blue skies

What does one do when the heart’s in pain?
Pray for hope in the endless falling rain

Lord can you unlock these burdensome chains
Give me strength to prop up my mortal remains

Aware the sun rose and set upon thee
And I would give forever just to be free

Give me freedom from my streaming river of tears
Can you put to rest my the shadow of my fears

Bless me with your heart of solid gold
Reach beyond my walls and touch my soul

Raise me from the ashes that I have become
Give me reason for hope before days are done

Summon all of the love that still remains
Cure me of the heartache and of the pain

Spare me from the valley of the shadow of death
Give unto to me your everlasting sacred breath

Give this empty life freedom just like a flying bird
Your voice would be the sweetest sound I ever heard

Allow your gracious love to seep into my chest
I call upon you while forsaking all the rest

Open my eyes so I can finally see the truth
Forgive me all of my misgivings of youth

I guess that I had to be the one to fall
Just to realize my soul already had it all

May peace reign in my tender heart tonight?
While I lay mercifully asleep in your holy light
