Your Honey Coated Heart

Your Honey Coated Heart

The sweetness that was in you, was so easy for all to see;

Your heart had coats of honey, all who met you would agree!

I never heard you snarl, or saw you bare your little teeth;

Instead, your lips gave kisses, to all of those you’d meet!

No snips, or snails, or puppy dog tails, you were pure sugar and sweet spice;

The most gentle loving puppy dog, full of all things very nice!

The honey that was in your heart, came from deep within your soul;

The sweetest one God ever made, his Angels all were told!

We were blessed the day we found you, His guiding light led us there;

To bring you to our loving sides, almost fourteen years to share!

You were the answer to all our prayers, you brought such joy into our lives;

The moment that we saw you, we traded two high fives!

You were a dream that never ended, each day sweeter than before;

We cherished each precious moment, we’ll love you evermore!

Your honey coated heart now rests, with your ashes on your shrine;

But your sacred soul lives within both ours, and daily there does shine!

Oh Larry,
There is no devotion more pure, more total or more ferocious than that of a dog. It's right there in their eyes when they look at you. And when those eyes close for the last time...it's difficult to find words.

Well...not for you, obviously. A sweet, lovely, kinda heartbreaking poem.

My Dear Brother Poet Jason,

I know we have just recently met, but I have probably posted over 100 poems devoted to my dear Nico.  Next month on February 16th, will be the 2nd Anniversary of his passing.  Yet, my broken heart refuses to heal, and my tattered soul still cries for him daily.  No person in the history of Earth, has ever loved their doggie more than I loved my Nico.  To add fuel to the fire, his little Brother Cody, who we brought into all our lives when Nico was  eighteen months old, and he loved dearly from the moment that they met, was also birthed by the same Mother as Nico.  Now, we are dealing with some very serious medical issues with our dear little Cody, and are petrified that in the near future, we will lose him too.  Thank you for your beautiful words of comfort.

Peace and Love,

Larry xxx

Larry,
I'm so very sorry to hear that. I lost my own Beta just last October to bowel cancer. He was my constant companion of almost nine years; we lived alone together in my little house and there was no creature on this earth more happy to see me at the end of the day. In his last ten days, he was failing so quickly and horrifically that he was barely recognisable as the dynamo of recalcitrant energy who would lead me a charge through the woods, up the highways and down the byways of Donegal every morning.

I know, only too well, the gaping abyss that has been left in your life; and I can certainly understand the dread you and your wife feel at the prospect of a second.

My thoughts are with the three of you, my dear friend.

J.

My Dear Brother Poet Jason,

This story about your beloved Beta has brought tears to my eyes.  The only way I feel able to respond, is to write a poetic tribute to him.  Could you send us a favorite photograph of yours which I will use for the illustration?

Feeling your pain,

Larry xxx

Sweet Daddio...Nico was such a sweet soul...It's hard to let go of a soulmate who was part of our lives as little things around us bring back painful memories...Be comforted...My prayer goes to Cody...He'd survive...I know it!..My love to Linda

My Sweet Rose,

I wrote another double Haiku this morning, that explains the pain I have been suffering for almost twenty-three months.  The thought of losing our Cody, which, unfortunately, is inevitable, has me terrified.  Thank you for sending your love and prayers.

Love You Too,

Daddio and Linda xxx
