Your Little Mind

If I could read your little mind
I can imagine what I would find
Comprehension beyond what I'd expect
Sometimes you're smarter than me, I suspect
A capacity for learning beyond my understanding
In a great big world that's quickly expanding
And an infinite amount of patience, too
As you wait for me to figure out what you need me to do
In your little mind I think galaxies form
You're so playful, imaginative, and often torn
You're afraid you'll miss out and refuse to sleep
The potential for brilliance that you have now I hope you'll always keep
But the monsters loom in your nightmares, too
You wake so frightened, relaxing only when I snuggle with you
My dearest love, if only you could see
Into the adoring mind of me
You'd be wrapped in love all around
You'd never have another reason to frown
You'd see that the monsters can't touch you; aren't real
They've gone extinct, their fate by all loving parents sealed
My baby, I encourage you to laugh and play
And occasionally nap the day away
As you mature try not to grow up
Keep this treasure of innocence; there is never enough

The love of a child is the best love you can find! This is a wonderful poem for a parent child relationship. Good job, Anthony
Thank you, Anthony! I really appreciate the compliment! :-)
