A Mother's Love

A Mother's Love

A Farmer once had a cow called Daisy who gave him lovely pails full of delicious milk every day. She fed out in the meadow on the rich grass all day and early in the morning he would milk her with love and care. But the years went by and the Farmer and his cow both grew old together on the farm. One day she grew so old that she would give no more milk. Not a single pail of milk would she deliver any more. ‘I would have to put old Daisy out to pasture as she has no more milk to give. She was a good old cow,’ he told his wife. He also had two sheep who recently had a little lamb. One afternoon they were out grazing in the fields when a harsh storm struck up out of nowhere. The wind howled and the rain came down hard. The farmer had to rush out to the fields to find his sheep in a hurry in this bad storm before they were all lost. But it was too late already. The two sheep had strayed away in the severe cold and storm and they would never be found again. Luckily he had found the little lamb who was now orphaned. It was a day of great loss to all. He took the little lamb home and locked her up with Daisy in the old barn who would take good care of him during the long night and the downpour of hard rain outside. Then the farmer went to sleep as the storm raged on in the dark, sad about his loss and damage of the day. The next morning the rain stopped and the sun broke through the clouds in splendid sunshine. He walked over to the barn to see how Daisy and the little orphaned lamb were fairing after the harsh night’s storm. When he opened the barn door he found the little lamb feeding off of the old cow happily. Old Daisy still had some motherly love and milk in her after all. From that day forward the little lamb and the old cow became inseparable and would always be seen together walking and grazing all over the farm and the meadow. Motherly love heals all wounds in the end.
