Avalon Part 4

The Oceans deceit had taken many lives, its snare had fooled even the most brilliant of swimmers.
Captivating as it was, its waters held many stories of those lost to its smother.Β
It had no remorse. Even as loved ones combed the beach in search for some sort of comfort, noneΒ
came. There were no answers, only those of the Ocean that remained behind its closed door.
Avalon though had been an exception. The admiration of her beauty had saved her, but
it had come at a price. The Ocean owned her, created her flawless for its agenda. It had marveled
at her sight, proud at its final accomplishment. It couldn't wait to lavish her in its awaiting lifestyle.
To the Ocean, she was an object of its desire.
Avalon's family continued to mourn her loss. Her disappearance was more than they could bare.Β
There had been no closure. For days they scoured the beach searching for her. They tried desperatelyΒ
to keep the horrendous thoughts of would could of happened at bay, they knew truth would certainlyΒ
break them. Without a doubt though, they knew Blue Ridge was the last place she had been seen.
Her afternoon ritual would always have her feeling refreshed and exhilarated after her daily encounters.
She only had a fifteen minute walk from home to the vast walking track that would lead her down
to the sandy bank. By the time she arrived, the place would be almost deserted, apart from
the odd jogger who would give a quick nod as she stood breathing in the fresh salty air.
After that she would stroll near the waters edge and then lavish herself waist deep. She always
knew around what time the tide would come in, or so she thought.
On that particular day, she had no idea that it was about to come in much quicker than she
had anticipated. While immersing herself through its tranquility, she hadn't noticed the sudden change.
It had turned on her, the waves began to torment as they pulled her down time and time again.
She fought its power with barely any breath left, eventually becoming weaker by the minute. Then
before long, she just didn't surface again.
The deed had been done and the Ocean was ready to prepare her for the change that it hadΒ
desperately wanted to secure. As it lowered its tone, it began to immerse her in its capability.
It welcomed her beneath the soft arms of the awaiting coral and wavered off anything that attemptedΒ
to interfere with its mastery. Those of the deep had no idea they were about to explore a species,
like none other.
