Chronicles of the Immortals (prologue)

He was the son of Destiny and she, hisΒ sister, was the daughter of Fate. Both born in the month of the Gemini, they were twins, born to the God and Goddess of Skyhaven. They were born for a specific purpose, though all the Divines knew what the sacrifice would be. During the time of their birth, the mortals in the lower realms were at war, all one with another. The Rulers of Skyhaven, who knew that they could not interfere in the affairs of mortal men because that would directly affect their free will, knew they had to find a way to stop the wars without revealing themselves and their purpose. A council was held, and it was decided that two worthy Immortals would have to have offspring and send them to lower realms to help the mortals keep peace. When they were into their teens, (5 years old in mortal years), they were told what their purpose was. They agreed readily, though with some hesitancy. They would be separated onceΒ they reached the lower realms, and they would not be able to see each other for centuries, until the world would need them both. Exchanging hugs and kisses, they took upon themselves an oath that every Immortal lived by, under the penalty of losing his Immortality should he break it: Never, under any circumstances, can an Immortal reveal himself to a mortal until the proper time that was set had come. Therefore, taking this oath, Armana-Vega Touched each of her beloved children on the forehead whispering a phrase as she did so: "Sleep child, as high noon comes, and dream of the land under the Sun..." Immediately after, the children were put into a deep slumber, never to wake until a family had found them and taken them as their own. Their bodies, now still as the night, were surrounded by a Celestial light, a protective ward on their journey down into the mortal realms, where the would reside until the the Divines deemed it necessary to introduce Immortals into the world...
